Subspace's Big Bang Waffle

Big Bang Waffle

Fried egg, beef patty, bacon, ham, cheese, tomatoes and japanese mayo. It was good but for some reason not as yummy as I thought it would be? I guess Subspace just has a way of making everything look extra good.

Coming Soon: Wildflour Cafe + Bakery in Podium

I'm sure you all have heard about Wildflour before, and I'm sure they're nothing but great things. This restaurant has been open for less than a year now yet it's still buzzing - still having to wait for a table for lunch on a weekday should be enough proof. For those of you who can't get enough, haven't tried it yet, live far from the Fort (and near Ortigas) then you're in for a treat! They will be opening their second branch in Podium in May. The cafe will be located on the first floor of the mall, right where Cafe France used to be.

Wildflour
Address: Net Lima Building , 4th ave. cor. 26th street, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City

Korea: Cat Cafe in Myeong Dong

Somewhere in Myeong Dong (near Laneige)

The Cat Cafe is located on the 6th floor. In the elevator is a list of some do's and dont's inside the cafe.

If you haven't heard of cat cafes before they're just your ordinary cafe where you can get drinks, except with a couple of cats laying around that you can play with. Cat Cafes are quite popular in Korea and in some other countries as well like Japan and Thailand. I didn't even have to look for one - I bumped into two cat cafes while just walking around Myeong Dong which probably gives you an idea of how popular they are. I went on a weekday at night and there were about 8 other people which were mostly couples.

Once you go inside the cafe there's a small room where you have to change into slippers. They have kid sizes available too.

It costs 8000 won (around 400 pesos) to enter and that comes with one free drink of your choice. Another rule before going in, aside from changing into slippers, is to sanitize your hands (you'll find hand sanitizers laying around the cafe that you can use for free.) Also, the cats are allowed to roam freely wherever they like including the kitchen area and on top of the tables, just for your information.

You can also purchase some cat treats at the counter if you'd like to feed them.

I ordered an Iced (Hot) Chocolate which was yummy but didn't really end up paying much attention to after awhile... Too many cute kitties!
I didn't even realize the cat design on my drink 'til someone pointed it out. How cute?

Women, men and cats bathrooms.

As soon as you step in the cafe you'll first be greeted by the faint smell of cats. It did not stink at all which surprised me but you'll definitely smell something, you'll get used to it though and forget about it after a minute. The cafe was also really clean - no sign of cat waste anywhere.

There are a total of twenty cats of different breeds in the cafe. It seems like a lot but the cafe is quite spacious and a lot of them were either sleeping or just chilling high up on their beds.

Some sanitizer and lint rollers which you'll surely need afterwards.

Some blankets if you wanna sit on the ground or use with the cat toys. (Those cat toys with the stick attached to them aren't meant to be dangled in front of their faces, people. Put it under a blanket and pull the stick to make the illusion of a mouse moving.)

Some cat toys!

I wanted to bring this little guy home with me so bad!!!!

The Cake Club • Take II

Vanessa PHP 250
"Our GM's favorite! Made of pistachio macaroons and fresh strawberries."

Top to bottom: Baked Cheesecake and Le Royale PHP 180 (for two scoops)
Baked Cheesecake: "Our signature cheesecake is reputed to be the richest and cheesiest in the Metro."
Le Royale: "Chef Pang Kok Keong's signature cake is made of Valrhona dark chocolate mousse, almond meringue and hazelnut crispy."

Top to bottom: Supermoist Chocolate Cake and Le Royale PHP 180 (for two scoops)
Supermoist Chocolate Cake: "There is no other chocolate cake in town with a bigger following than our signature chocolate cake."
Le Royale: "Chef Pang Kok Keong's signature cake is made of Valrhona dark chocolate mousse, almond meringue and hazelnut crispy."

Comments / More Information:
- My favorite ice cream flavor is Le Royale. It's super rich and heavy and your craving will be satisfied with just one scoop. If you're not into dark chocolate then this flavor isn't for you.
- You can't get only one scoop of their ice cream; you can only get two scoops (PHP 180), one pint (PHP 350) or half a gallon (PHP 1,000)
- The Cake Club is my absolute favorite dessert place at the moment! If you haven't tried it yet, you have to pay them a visit.

Foie Gras Macaroon PHP 150
I kinda freaked out when I first heard about the Foie Gras Macaroon. Duck liver macaroon?? I didn't know whether it sounded appetizing to me or not, all I knew was that I had to get my hands on them and straight to my mouth immediately. This macaroon is definitely an acquired taste, just as foie gras is. It was sweet at first but as I chewed along the saltiness and foie gras flavor bursted out. I enjoyed it but it isn't something I'd crave for.

Truffle Fries PHP 180 "Sea salt flakes, garlic mayonnaise or ketchup"

This appetizer was really simple yet fulfilling. Their fries were all fried to perfection with just the right amount of truffle flavor, plus it wasn't greasy at all.

GM's Favorite PHP 210 "Forest mushrooms, fresh buffalo cheese, balsamic vinaigrette"

The salad was placed on a delicate parmesan crisp bowl which went well with everything on the plate, especially the tangy vinaigrette. I liked how they incorporated the many different flavors and textures into this dish. Light and fresh, like how any salad should be.

Porcini Mushroom Crepe PHP 435 "White wine, cream, emmental"

By the time I was done eating my first crepe I wasn't interested on touching the second one anymore. It was great but not something I can eat a lot of, it's probably better off being eaten as a starter rather than a main dish. Honestly not something I would order again, another reason why is because of it's price.

Roast Chicken PHP 415 "Haricot verts, mushroom, potatoes"
I could tell my dad really enjoyed his dish, he wiped out his plate quickly and had no complaints at all.

Vanessa PHP 250 "Our GM's favorite! Made of pistachio macaroons and fresh strawberries"

The Cake Club offers two different kinds of dessert macaroons, Vanessa and Ispahan, both about the size of my fist. Something all macaroon lovers will surely go crazy about. I know I did!

Menu

Comments / More Information:
- All their dishes were beautifully plated, as you can see from the photos above
- They're also known for their ice cream but unfortunately I wasn't able to have some. Maybe next time!
- The next time I pay them a visit I'm definitely going on a Saturday or Sunday for their Weekend Brunch. What can be better than starting your day with a fancy, hearty brunch?
- They also sell Royce and Hediard products in their restaurant
- They have WiFi for their customers, just ask one of the waiters for the password
