Wildflour Cafe + Bakery (Podium) • Take II

I purposely went a bit late for lunch since I thought it would be less busy, so I got there at around 2:30 pm. And boy did I think wrong! There was a long line of people curious on what the whole Wildflour cronuts craze is all about, and they all wanted a taste. (I'm pretty sure they were all there for the cronuts, I overheard about three people asking the waitress if they were still available and she said there was just one left. Is it that good?? I gotta try one asap.) I thought I'd go around the mall for a bit and wait for the line to get shorter...but after twenty minutes it didn't. I just wanted my grilled cheese sandwich man! It was obvious that people were still gonna come in for their marienda so I thought I'd just face the line instead.
All their yummy pastries prettily displayed by the counter. They must have a good system of cleaning because there wasn't one fly looping around anywhere...
Agua Fresca PHP 110
"Cucumber, lime, mint"
I walked my way to the mall so I wanted something refreshing to sip on that wouldn't clash with my meal. Their agua fresca was the way to go! I could definitely taste each ingredient including the cucumber, and was really good especially with all that ice.
Grilled Cheese PHP 290
"Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, side salad"
What sets this grilled cheese apart from any other ol' grilled cheese sandwich is the caramelized onions they stuff in it that gives it a sweet taste. They cook their caramelized onions in a certain way that makes it a bit mushy to the point where they don't look like onions anymore, but I don't mean that in a bad way at all. If you've tried Wildflour's tarte flabee's before then you know what I'm talking about. Crunchy on the edges and gooey and cheesy in the inside, just the way I like it. I don't know what dressing they use on that salad but it's so good! The mix of greens and tasty dressing is enough for me to eat the salad on it's own without toppings. I'd happily eat one big bowl of this.

Wildflour Cafe + Bakery (Podium)

Wildflour in the Fort still stands as the restaurant's main branch. The one in Podium has a total of only 10 tables, 6 outside and 4 inside (the second floor does not have any tables.) When I took a look at their menu I realized that they did not have many of the dishes that they offer in the Fort - like the bone marrow, flambes and burgers. Only a selection of dishes are available here due to the limited space. As I was talking to the waitress though she mentioned that they're still going to try to bring in more of the dishes to Podium.

They also implemented semi-self service to this branch - where you'll have to order in the counter, grab a seat and wait for the server to bring you your food. Even with the limited space they still managed to squeeze in a display of their baked goodies.

The wine display on the ledge acts as a nice touch to the interior while using storage space efficiently.

Homemade Strawberry-Lemon Soda PHP 170
I loved this! It reminded me a lot of IHOP's Splashberry except without the actual strawberries.

Agua Fresca PHP 110
"Cucumber, lime, mint"

It was both refreshing and different, which my mom enjoyed.

Parmesan Churros PHP 160
Lightly crispy on the outside + airy and gooey inside. If you're a cheese lover like I am and you're looking for a light appetizer then get this! Not something I'd get to finish on my own though since it's pretty greasy.

Ham and Brie Sandwich (with a side of chips / salad) PHP 320
"Cornichons, wild arugula, pain de mie"
Forgive me! My mom and I grabbed one end of the sandwich each as soon as the waitress brought it to the table. I was too hungry that I forgot to take a photo and wouldn't have if my mom didn't remind me. It was good but it would've been better if it was served warm with the brie melted (drool), instead of cold. You can never go wrong with a ham and brie sandwich! I'm not much of a fan of ham, but ham and brie make a good match so it's an exception.

Valrhona Salted Chocolate Cake PHP 185
I didn't really taste much of the salt but it was a pretty damn good chocolate cake. The cake was dense and moist + the frosting was rich and decadent, all the good things you'd want in a chocolate cake.
By this time I noticed how generous they are with their dishes. It's not obvious in the photo but the slice of cake was huge that my mom and I couldn't even finish it. The sandwich was stuffed with ham, brie, wild arugula and pickles; and the churros were topped with lots of grated parmesan cheese.

Now Open: Wildflour Cafe + Bakery in Podium

It's open! Wildflour's second branch is currently on the process of soft opening in Podium, located beside Charriol on the ground floor of the shopping mall.
The first thing I noticed was how small the restaurant is and how it wont be able to sit as much people (compared to BGC's) at one time. Then while looking back at the photos, I notice that there's a staircase at the back - more tables or just the kitchen maybe?
Even if the location isn't as great as the one in BGC (outdoor tables for cool days, smokers and dog owners + a more relaxed vibe) I'm sure this branch will be buzzing just as much as the Wildflour branch in the Fort.

Coming Soon: Wildflour Cafe + Bakery in Podium

I'm sure you all have heard about Wildflour before, and I'm sure they're nothing but great things. This restaurant has been open for less than a year now yet it's still buzzing - still having to wait for a table for lunch on a weekday should be enough proof. For those of you who can't get enough, haven't tried it yet, live far from the Fort (and near Ortigas) then you're in for a treat! They will be opening their second branch in Podium in May. The cafe will be located on the first floor of the mall, right where Cafe France used to be.

Samosa "Crispy pastry shells stuffed with a zesty combination of spiced potatoes and peas. Deep fried." PHP 135

Plain Naan "Soft white flour bread baked in tandoor." PHP 75

Mutton (lamb) Biryani PHP 245

Chicken Tikka Masala "Tender pieces of boneless grilled chicken cooked in rich tomato sauce with masala and thick gravy." PHP 235

Peshwari Naan (for dessert) "With coriander leaves, coconut powder and cheese." PHP 115

Descriptions taken from their menu

Comments / More Information:
- You can have the spice level adjusted for all the dishes
- Their naan bread doesn't actually come with it's own curry sauce (unlike the one in Banana Leaf). You can dip it in the sauce that comes with the other dishes that you order. In our case, we dipped the plain naan bread in the sauce of the Chicken Tikka Masala
- Their naan bread is also thicker than Banana Leaf's
- I love Indian food and this is definitely my go-to Indian restaurant. I've observed that most of their customers are actually Indian, which just proves how authentic their food is!
- Have their food delivered to you through City Delivery (87878)

Double Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding "Warm bread pudding. Served with vanilla ice cream. Ingredients change seasonally" PHP 140

Mom's Milk and Cookies "Chewy fresh baked cookies in assorted flavors. Served with a pitcher of cold milk" PHP 220

Fresh Milk. Yes, the kind you get from the States...

Left to right: Oatmeal and Cranberry, Gingerbread, Peanut Butter
The gingerbread cookies were my favorite!

All gone!

Comments:
- They're open 24/7
- They always have different flavors of their Bread and Butter Pudding and they don't serve it plain. This time their flavor was double chocolate which was really yummy, but the last time I ordered this the flavor was banana and I didn't like that so much. Make sure to ask the waiter what flavor they have for the day before ordering it
- Their Mom's Milk and Cookies were delicious! I actually didn't expect it to be that good. They have three different kinds of cookie flavors: gingerbread (my favorite), oatmeal and cranberry (my second favorite), and peanut butter (my least favorite) which came straight from the oven. They were baked to perfection, crunchy on the outside but really chewy in the inside. Plus their milk was imported which took the yumminess to a whole 'nother level
- The restaurant has two entrances, one from inside of the mall and one near the open parking
- I'd say that this is a perfect place to bring your friends since the restaurant has a really chill vibe to it
