Essie Fall 2013 Mini Set

Essie Fall 2013 Mini Set PHP 750, from the Urban Bazaar
The Lace is On | For the Twill of It | Cashmere Bathrobe | Vested Interest

"It's a material world. This fall, a textile-inspired nail color palette piles on the luxe and amps up the chic. Colors take their cues from rich flannels, sumptuous knits, hints of lace and ultra-fine silk twill - for sensuously seductive lacquer looks."

'Glistening jewel toned pearlescent fuchsia' is how Essie describes The Lace is On. My second favorite from the collection, which is also metallic number. I think they nailed the description pretty well. This is perfect for the girls out there who still want to sport a pop of color to their look during the fall.

It's pretty obvious who the star of the show is in Essie's collection this fall. For the Twill of It is 'a rich medium brown with reflective green shimmer'. I personally wouldn't describe it as brown at all, but sorta reminds of the rainbow that forms from oil leaks on the road, if you know what I'm saying. It's a unique shade that I already started obsessing over since I laid eyes on it. It's also the reason why I bought this set in the first place!

Cashmere Bathrobe, a cool toned 'true flannel gray' with tiny, tiny subtle specks of silver that isn't noticeable from afar. I can see this as being my new go-to gray!

Lastly is Vested Interest, a 'cool gray teal' which is the color I'm probably least excited about in the collection.

I think Essie did a good job in planning this fall's collection, there's definitely something in here for every kind of girl to love. They have bright shades for those who like some color on their fingertips all year round or as transitional colors to fall, an edgy and daring shade, and a few more standard fall cool toned polishes. There are two other colors from the collection that aren't part of the mini set, which are Twin Sweater Set a 'vibrant crimson red' and After School Boy Blazer a 'academy blue black' that's gorgeous and I wish was in the mini set instead of Vested Interest.

What do you think of Essie's Fall 2013 Collection?

Essie in Tart Deco, Absolutely Shore + Bikini So Teeny

Tart Deco | Absolutely Shore | Bikini So Teeny PHP 400
(according to the last two pictures)
You're all probably sick of hearing me obsess about these but I just wanted to share with you my teeny tiny mini Essie, um, "collection." I just recently discovered a store called Polish Please that sells them here in the Philippines (PHP 400), including other popular nail polish brands like Zoya, OPI and China Glaza - and I'm super excited for my Essie nail polish collection to grow!

What nail polishes do you own from Essie?

Essie in Absolutely Shore

Essie in Absolutely Shore
PHP 400, from Polish Please

Just recently, I found a super secret spot in Rockwell where they have an entire display of Essie nail polishes. They have a pretty solid selection of Essie polishes including the favorites like Absolutely Shore, Bikini So Teeny, Fiji and more.

I've been eyeing Absolutely Shore for ages and was on my never ending list of nail polishes to buy when I'm out of the country. (To those of you who don't know, there are no official distributors of Essie here in the Philippines so they're really hard to get!) Essie describes this color as a soft sea foam green, which I think pretty much captures this pastel shade perfectly. Makes me wanna go on a road trip to the beach!

It took me three coats to achieve this look on my nails but you can definitely go on with just two. It has the standard long and narrow brush which is a bit of a pain, but I can live. As usual, I started off with Sally Hansen's Continuous Treatment Strength and finished off with Max Factor's Glossfinity, an amazing combo for a long lasting chip-free manicure.

What do you think of this color? What's your favorite from Essie?

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Enamel in Pale Cashmere

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Enamel in Pale Cashmere PHP 320

I would describe this color as a pale baby pink and for some reason reminds me of strawberry yogurt. Since it is a very light color it took me about three coats to achieve this look, then finished off with a top coat.

I never really do my own nails that's why I don't have much in my nail polish collection, I prefer having them done because first, they're cheap anyway. A manicure here in the Philippines could go as low as around 120 pesos (around $3) and "change polish" would cost less than a hundred pesos (less than $2), depending on where you have them done of course. There are cheap nail spas nearby my house and school that I go to a lot, but sometimes I like treating myself to more expensive nail spas because they have high-end nail polish brands. My favorite 'more expensive' nail spas in the Metro are I Do Nails and Dashing Diva! Second is because I have a small nail polish collection so I don't have much colors to choose from and I'm the type of girl who switches nail polishes almost every week. Third, because I suck at doing my own manicures and lastly, I just enjoy the whole relaxing experience of getting a manicure.

I'm trying to change my ways though so recently I tried my luck on doing my own nails with this nail polish from Revlon and I don't think it's that bad... (Don't judge my manicure skills.) I'll keep practicing, promise!
As I said earlier, I get sick of my nail polish really quickly. Which is why it probably wouldn't be a great idea for me to splurge on a gel manicure! I'm really pleased with the lasting power of the Revlon ColorStay Longwear polishes. Polishes chip on me like crazy, within 2 to 3 days since I don't take the best care of them. It's been six days since I applied this and it's going strong! Now the problem was that I was getting sick of them. Not because I don't like the color, just because I'm weird like that. The solution? A matte top coat! Reminds of a macaron now. Do you use this trick too?

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel

I first tried the Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel when I picked up a couple on
my last trip to Hong Kong. I got a pretty pastel shade in lavender (Provence) and baby pink (Pale Cashmere), both perfect for spring. I love the formulation of this! It's long wearing, yet inexpensive, and there are 30 beautiful shades to choose from. I went to PCX yesterday and couldn't help but grab three more to add to my collection. Each of these retail for 320 pesos or $60 HK.
Left to right: Pale Cashmere, Spanish Moss, Trade Winds, Rich Raspberry, Provence
Have you tried the Revlon ColorStay Longwear polishes? What's your favorite shade?

Orly in Rage

Orly in Rage from the Foil FX Collection

The most beautiful rose gold nail polish I've ever laid eyes on. It's now my favorite from Orly!

I got my manicure done in Enza (which I've previously blogged about here) while having a foot massage. Good service as always!

Manicure using Orly nail polish: PHP 160
Foot massage for 30 minutes: PHP 150

Orly's Description of the Foil FX Collection:
"A unique formula that contains a texturized foil effect. These high-shine, foil finish lacquers are available in three shades; the rose-gold Rage, the super silvery Shine and the luxurious golden Luxe."

Enza Nails & Spa + H&M's nail polish in Check Me Out

Enza is a tiny, simple but comfy nail salon that I go to when I desperately need to get my nails done since I live near where this is located. How convenient is that for someone like me!

Everything about this place is relaxing - from the interiors, the chill music, the comfy couches to the super friendly manicurists. You'll surely leave that place in a good mood

I recently got a pedicure, so I just decided to get a manicure for today: PHP 120
They have Caronia (a Filipino brand) and Orly nail polishes - for Orly, you have to add PHP 40 or PHP 60 depending on what package you're getting. Since they don't have much colors to choose from I usually just bring my own nail polish with me

I brought my bottle of H&M's nail polish in the color "Check Me Out"
The lighting was a bit off here but I posted it anyway cause I didn't have any other photo of the bottle

It's not as  bright and fluorescent as it looks in the picture, but it's close. I just can't seem to capture the true color of the nail polish...

Comments / Recommendations:
- Make sure to bring an extra bottle of your own nail polish just in case you don't like any of the nail polishes they have. It's always good to be ready!
- Make sure to ask for an Enza card after your pampering
- I don't recommend getting hair removals there because like I said earlier their place is pretty tiny and they don't have a room for waxing or anything. You wouldn't want the other customers seeing you get your armpits waxed, do you?
