Wildflour Cafe + Bakery (Podium) • Take II

I purposely went a bit late for lunch since I thought it would be less busy, so I got there at around 2:30 pm. And boy did I think wrong! There was a long line of people curious on what the whole Wildflour cronuts craze is all about, and they all wanted a taste. (I'm pretty sure they were all there for the cronuts, I overheard about three people asking the waitress if they were still available and she said there was just one left. Is it that good?? I gotta try one asap.) I thought I'd go around the mall for a bit and wait for the line to get shorter...but after twenty minutes it didn't. I just wanted my grilled cheese sandwich man! It was obvious that people were still gonna come in for their marienda so I thought I'd just face the line instead.
All their yummy pastries prettily displayed by the counter. They must have a good system of cleaning because there wasn't one fly looping around anywhere...
Agua Fresca PHP 110
"Cucumber, lime, mint"
I walked my way to the mall so I wanted something refreshing to sip on that wouldn't clash with my meal. Their agua fresca was the way to go! I could definitely taste each ingredient including the cucumber, and was really good especially with all that ice.
Grilled Cheese PHP 290
"Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, side salad"
What sets this grilled cheese apart from any other ol' grilled cheese sandwich is the caramelized onions they stuff in it that gives it a sweet taste. They cook their caramelized onions in a certain way that makes it a bit mushy to the point where they don't look like onions anymore, but I don't mean that in a bad way at all. If you've tried Wildflour's tarte flabee's before then you know what I'm talking about. Crunchy on the edges and gooey and cheesy in the inside, just the way I like it. I don't know what dressing they use on that salad but it's so good! The mix of greens and tasty dressing is enough for me to eat the salad on it's own without toppings. I'd happily eat one big bowl of this.

Have you tried cronuts or Wildflour's cronuts before?

Breakfast at Antonio's

Quattro Berries Smoothie PHP 240
This was really good and just thinking about it now's making me crave for it! The four berries that they used in this smoothie are strawberries, cranberries, blueberries and raspberries; if I'm not mistaken. It was refreshing and all the different berries went well together.

Smoked Salmon Benedict PHP 485

Eggs Benedict PHP 400

The eggs benedict comes with a roasted slice of pineapple and half a banana flavored with cinnamon. The presentation was a bit...off, if ya ask me.
Fresh Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese & Over Easy Eggs Roesti (Swiss Crisp Potato Pancake) PHP 350

The bottom reminded me more of a hash brown than a pancake because of the crunchy outer edges. I loved this and I'd order it again on my next visit! It is really quite filling though so this would be a good dish to share. I had my mind set on ordering dessert when we got to the restaurant but I ended up only finishing half of this and had no more room for dessert.

Early Bird Breakfast Club

I love breakfast food dearly and see it as comfort food but I'm definitely not a morning person. During the summer I wake up way too late, and during the school year I'm always rushing out the door and never have enough time to have a proper breakfast. The fact that there have been more all day breakfast spots popping up lately (like IHOP) makes Manila, I believe, a happier place.

There's nothing serious about a breakfast joint, just good food and cheery vibes. The bright colors and cute patterns exclaims "happy," even on a stormy day.

Ginger Peach Lemonade PHP 125
The ginger doesn't have an overpowering taste at all, it balances with the sweetness of the peach and is light and refreshing.

Pineapple Sunshine PHP 125
I would have enjoyed this more if it was smoother and had less fiber.

Eggs Benedict PHP 420
"Toasted English muffin with arm honey roast ham, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce."

I played it safe for some reason and ordered their eggs benedict. I always enjoy a well executed eggs benedict and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The english muffin was slightly crunchy (and not soggy from the hollandaise sauce) and the two eggs were poached perfectly.

French Toast Fondue PHP 210
"Served with cinnamon sugar, maple syrup and melted chocolate."

I don't like my french toast soggy so I really liked this. Having them cut up in a way where you can use your fingers makes eating french toast way more fun. The sesame seeds on the bread also added a nice touch to the dish. And how cute is the presentation? They were able to make use of the egg shells as dip containers instead of just throwing them away!

Whether you're a morning person or not, don't fret because they're open from 7 am to 10 pm on Sundays to Thursdays, and 24 hours from Fridays to Saturdays.

Now Open: Wildflour Cafe + Bakery in Podium

It's open! Wildflour's second branch is currently on the process of soft opening in Podium, located beside Charriol on the ground floor of the shopping mall.
The first thing I noticed was how small the restaurant is and how it wont be able to sit as much people (compared to BGC's) at one time. Then while looking back at the photos, I notice that there's a staircase at the back - more tables or just the kitchen maybe?
Even if the location isn't as great as the one in BGC (outdoor tables for cool days, smokers and dog owners + a more relaxed vibe) I'm sure this branch will be buzzing just as much as the Wildflour branch in the Fort.

The Cake Club • Take III

The waiter recommended the Smoked Salmon Benedict, Mediterranean Eggs, Homemade Corned Beef Stuffed Blinis and Stuffed French Toast.
Their brunch is only available from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Grande Reserve (Regular) PHP 120

Chilled Mango Juice PHP 100

Homemade Corned Beef Stuffed Blinis PHP 325
"Creamy scrambled eggs, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, whole-grain mustard sauce, vine ripe tomatoes"

The scrambled eggs were really fluffy and a bit runny which is just the way I like them. The corned beef was delicious, not the cheap kind that you would get out of a canned one in the supermarket. I like how the mustard also really complimented everything else. It's a simple but yummy dish I'd love to start my day with every morning.

Truffle Fries PHP 180
"Sea salt flakes, garlic mayonnaise or ketchup"

Smoked Salmon Benedict PHP 345
"Whole wheat and quinoa pancakes, olive oil cooked asparagus, hollandaise sauce"

I liked everything about this dish except for the whole wheat quinoa pancakes that they used. The bread had the texture of a stiff muffin which I didn't enjoy at all. I was expecting something like an english muffin, slightly crunchy on the outside but chewy inside. It kind of ruined the entire thing for me, although my mom really enjoyed it and loved the pancakes. I guess it all depends on your preference?

A perfectly poached egg - plus points for them!

Grams Diner

Tortilla, Queso y Salsa "Red tomato salsa sitting quietly beside a flaming yellow cheese sauce while tortilla chips lounge expectantly in a basket. We hope you imagine in vivid color because that's the whole point in describing it that way." PHP 250

Grams Iced Tea "Our very own brew using ultra-secret recipes but the ice is supplied by outside contractors who requested anonymity." PHP 100

Flap it like it's Hot "What happens when your fried chicken wings are tossed in authentic buffalo wing sauce." PHP 350

Grams World Famouse Beef Tapa "Did you know that the word tapa means 'cover' in Spanish? Well, here in Grams, beef tapa is served with two fried eggs and garlic rice. (Brief silence as we let you chew on that!). You would have finished your beef tapa before you find the connection there. By then, we don't think you'd still core." PHP 420

Menu

Descriptions taken from their menu

Comments / More Information:
- They have tables outside of the restaurant for smokers or for people who just prefer sitting outside
- I ordered their iced tea for a change but regretted it. It was okay but nothing beats their Whoppers Malt Milkshake! The jar that they used as a glass was a cute idea though
- Their iced tea is bottomless
- The tortilla chips were served warm. I think they make their own if I'm not mistaken. This was simple but it really hit the spot
- Their buffalo wings were perfectly fried; crispy on the outside, juicy and tender in the inside. It came with a sauce which I think is a ranch dressing and it went really well with the chicken. The buffalo wing sauce wasn't that spicy either
